I have been running my Mary Kay business since 1994 but using the products for over 30 years. It’s more than cosmetics as my story reveals.I always wanted to run my own business but started out in the corporate world in 1976 as a clerical worker. I never saw any position as a dead end but an opportunity. I knew it took more than skill but it mattered how you looked. After having a baby in 1983 I returned to work a new person. I dressed for the position I wanted and within 2 years I was promoted to a salaried position in Personal Computer Support. I later was promoted to supervisor in charge of the yearly million dollar IT budget. I left the company in 1993 moving to a fortune 500 company.
I started my Mary Kay business while working full time with a family. Consistency is the key and after 3 short years of working 6 hours per week I become a Sales Director with Mary Kay. I continued to work 8 more years while growing my unit. I left 7 years ago to run my Mary Kay business full time. I have since helped others become sales directors and my goal is to help more women reach sales director status. This position is held by 2% of the Mary Kay Sales force.
